What is 29?
29 is a four-player, two-team trick-taking card game with a bidding phase and trump. It is popular in Kerala and the wider Malayali diaspora, and has an active scene in Nova Scotia, Canada, where it arrived via British colonial card traditions. Also played as Partner 29 or simply "the 29 card game".
How 29 scoring works
The bidder names a minimum target in card points (traditionally between 15 and 28, sometimes 17โ28). The bidder picks trump and the bidding team tries to collect at least the bid in card points across the hand. Win: bidding team records the bid (or more) as positive points; the defending team records zero or a penalty depending on the local rule set. Loss: bidding team records a negative, defending team wins the amount. Cumulative score across hands counts toward a game target.
ScoreWise models this flexibly โ configure a bidder bonus for the bid winner and let the app handle cumulative totals and round-by-round history automatically.
Round-by-round history
Every round is editable. Tap a round tile to change the bidder, bid amount, team, or result. The leaderboard recomputes from scratch each time โ you can never end up with "off" totals from a mid-game correction.
Live-share with the rest of the group
When some of your regular 29 group is joining over video or watching from another room, tap broadcast. A QR code and short code appear. Anyone who scans the QR or opens the link sees the scoreboard update live in any browser โ no install needed on their side.
